At NorthStar, we utilize restorative practices to teach students to take responsibility for their behavior. This allows our students to repair the harm they have caused by aligning an action that directly relates to the harm done. Allowing the students to participate in assigning consequences provides them with opportunities to be accountable and buy into consequences. Restorative practices are effective in our environment because they turn conflict or other disruptive behavior into learning opportunities.
